By 'Camí ral' (royal road) is meant to be a "public road with more traffic used for communications before the construction of roads." (Dictionary of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans). Experts usually locate its origin in medieval times, in the means of communication that belonged directly to the king, although some say it already existed in prehistory. Today it is common to identify the existence of royal roads within the current layout of many main roads. Some still invade the urban nuclei of many Catalan towns and that is when they adopted the name of 'Camí Ral' —see, for example, the nomenclature of Mataró, Granollers, Cerdanyola or Gavà. The Diccionari Català-Valencià-Balear —better known as the Alcover-Moll— adds that it is also an artery “wide and capable of carriages”.
The music of the Liquid Trio is like a journey at different speeds, in a cart, tartan, horse or on foot, in solarium and in the twilight. A journey along a changing path, sometimes steep and curved; others, flat — not smooth — and straight; for leafy or dry landscapes; groping or walking firmly; but always forward. And with the basket full of objects, or rather concepts, at least singular: from the doohickey (endimari) to the doorknob (pom), passing through the caress (eixera), the refreshment shop (la guingueta) or the fluff (borrissol), a glossary that, on the other hand, often resorts to local Catalan variants, little known outside its geographical area.
At 'Camí ral' we immerse ourselves in an extraordinary palette of sound contrasts. Yes, contrasts, especially contrasts, between metal cobwebs, howls and disturbing climates, but also with contemplative counterpoints. All this constitutes a sublime exercise of sonic, and also acoustic, experimentation in the polysemous sense of the word; a way of doing things that started a decade ago, when the members of the duet Duot, Albert Cirera and Ramon Prats, met with Agustí Fernández. Good and fruitful understanding of the master with his former disciples to form this group baptized with a name that plays with the concept of transience, with the ephemeral thing, perhaps one of the most obvious and distinctive signs of so-called improvised music. Now and here, a liquid, magical and exalted trio makes their way down the royal road and beyond.

Per 'camí ral' s'entén que és un “camí públic de més trànsit utilitzat per a les comunicacions abans de la construcció de les carreteres.” (Diccionari de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans). Els experts acostumen a situar el seu origen en època medieval, en les vies de comunicació que pertanyien directament al rei, tot i que n'hi ha que asseguren ja n'hi havia a la prehistòria. Avui s'acostuma a identificar l'existència dels camins rals amb el traçat actual de moltes carreteres principals. Algunes encara envaeixen els nuclis urbans de moltes poblacions catalanes i és llavors quan adopten el nom de 'Camí Ral' —vegeu, per exemple, el nomenclàtor de Mataró, Granollers, Cerdanyola o Gavà. El Diccionari Català-Valencià-Balear —més conegut com a l'Alcover-Moll— afegeix que a més es tracta d'una artèria “ample i capaç per a carruatges”.
La música del Líquid Trio s'antulla com un recorregut a diferents velocitats, en carro, tartana, cavall o a peu, a solana i en penombra. Un viatge per un trajecte canviant, a voltes costerut i corbat; d'altres, pla —que no planer— i en via recta; per paisatges frondosos o de secà; a les palpentes o a pas ferm; però sempre endavant. I amb el sarró ple d'objectes, o més aviat conceptes, si més no singulars: de l'endimari al pom, passant per l'eixera, la guingueta o el borrissol, un glossari que, per altra banda, recorre sovint a variants locals del català, poc conegudes fora del seu àmbit geogràfic.
A "Camí ral" ens submergim en una paleta de contrastos sonors extraordinària. Sí, contrastos, sobretot contrastos, entre teranyines metàl·liques, udols i climes inquietants, però també amb contrapunts contemplatius. Tot plegat constitueix un exercici sublim d'experimentació sònica, i també acústica, en el sentit polisèmic d'aquest mot; una manera de fer que va arrencar ara fa una dècada, quan es van ajuntar els integrants del duet Duot, Albert Cirera i Ramon Prats, amb Agustí Fernàndez. Bona i fecunda entesa la del mestre amb els seus antics deixebles per a constituir aquest grup batejat amb un nom que juga amb el concepte de fugacitat —amb la cosa efímera—, tal vegada un dels signes més evidents i distintius de les anomenades músiques improvisades. Ara i aquí, un trio líquid, màgic i excels fa via pel camí ral i més enllà.
